Seasonal Car Maintenance for Pakistan’s Weather

Cars Ki Dukan Editorial · 18 Mar 2026

Pakistan's climate range means "general maintenance" advice often misses what actually matters locally. A few seasonal checks make a real difference to both reliability and resale condition.

Before summer in Punjab and interior Sindh, where ambient temperatures regularly cross 40°C, coolant condition matters more than most owners realise. Coolant that's old or diluted loses its boiling-point protection well before it looks obviously dirty — flush and refill on the manufacturer's interval, not just when the temperature gauge climbs. Also check AC gas level and condenser cleanliness before the heat arrives, not after the first day it stops cooling properly; a slow refrigerant leak is far cheaper to fix in April than to diagnose in June traffic.

Karachi's coastal humidity and salt air accelerate corrosion on exposed metal — brake lines, exhaust hangers, undercarriage bolts — faster than the same car would corrode inland. If you're in Karachi, an annual undercarriage rinse and a check of brake-line condition is worth the modest cost, especially on cars older than seven or eight years.

Monsoon season, wherever you are, is the time to check wiper blade condition and headlight/tail-light seal integrity before the first heavy rain, not during it. Water ingress into tail-light housings is a common, avoidable cause of electrical faults that show up months later as "gremlins."

For anyone driving to Murree, Naran, or northern areas in winter, check antifreeze concentration (not just coolant level) if you're going above the snow line, and don't ignore tyre tread depth — worn tyres that are merely adequate on dry Lahore roads become genuinely dangerous on a wet or icy hill road.

None of this is expensive to check. It's expensive to ignore.
